News from the Gardening Team

This week, we planted a small pollinator garden in the north-east corner of the parking lot. We planted native plants that support our local birds, pollinating insects and especially our Monarch Butterflies. Our local butterflies and bees are under threat as they lose their natural spaces to eat, sleep and raise their young. The answer is to create a Butterfly Flyway. We are looking for 10 local neighbours who would use a small corner of their garden for these plants and create a “Butterflyway” in our neighbourhood. This project is supported by the David Suzuki Foundation and more information is available on line at Need help getting started? Call Joanne at 647-351-2627 for advice and a list of plants.
