Working with the Pastor, the parish council involves itself with all aspects of parish life. It strives to “develop a worshipping community, to become aware of the community’s needs and to assist in the spiritual growth of the community.” It does this by being involved in the life of the parish, in its liturgical celebrations; its outreach activities, and its social events. There are presently twelve regular members and one associate member on the council. Under normal circumstances, each person is selected to a two-year term, which may be extended for an additional two-year term. Since the council is intended to be representative of the parish, every effort is made to ensure that its composition reflects the diversity of the parish. In the Spring, parishioners are invited to nominate the persons to the council. Through prayers and deliberation at a Retreat Day in June, the council selects new members from those nominated to take the places of those whose term has ended.
