4th Ordinary Sunday (Note & Bulletin)

In my first few years in the Jesuits, there were certain events or activities in which we wore clerics, the black shirt that priests wear.  We were always super excited to wear them.  Looking back I think our motives were often wrong.  They made us feel ‘special’ and elite.  In a word, a shirt gave us concrete identity.  In this week&rsquo


Ash Wednesday

Cross of Ashes

February 10th we begin Lent with the symbol of ashes, a reminder of our humanness and of the passage of time. Ashes will be distributed during each of our Masses this Wednesday. In addition to our usual Masses at 8:00am, 12:10pm and 5:15pm, a Mass has also been scheduled for 7:30pm.

I once worked with a Jesuit Priest who was also a good friend. When we first began to work together we were so excited. After a short time however, our friendship began to sour. I think, in a way, we competed against each other for authority and for the affection of the people. I spoke badly of him and he spoke badly of me and I would hear about it later.

Update re Syrian Refugees

Unknown Syrian Refugee

As you may remember, last September as a parish we committed ourselves to sponsor a Refugee family as part of Project Hope. Since that time, we have been working happen. We are preparing to welcome a Syrian family of six. The father is Ibrahim and the mother is Faisal.
