Wrapping up his global meeting of Catholic bishops on family issues -- which has seen both decisive shifts in tone from the Vatican and heated debates over the church's direction -- Pope Francis called on bishops to find a middle path between doctrine and reality.

On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a fest of well-aged wines... This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in God’s salvation. This weekend, we join with other Canadians in giving thanks for the blessings we receive. Gratitude is probably the "biggest" of the virtues – it takes up a lot of space!

Lourdes Food Bank Thanks YOU!

The Clients, Volunteers and Staff of Lourdes food Bank are very grateful your generosity this weekend and throughout the year! From September 2013 to August 2014 we have served 8706 adults and children at our local food bank in St Jamestown. The total number of people served has increased by an incredible 37%.

Our Car Raffle is on! This year the grand prize is a 2015 Kia Sportage (or $20,000.00 Cash). 2nd Prize is $3,000 cash and 3rd Prize is $2,000. There are also 8 additional prizes of $100 cash. The draw will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

One of the most important things Sr Beverley showed me in Jamaica was to try to be faithful to people no matter what. Sr Beverley was in charge of St Anne’s outreach to the poor. Whatever was donated or begged would be given to those in most need.

26th Sunday (Note & Bulletin)

I remember as a kid, our priest would often joke that we were all Christians while at Mass but when we tried to exit the crowded parking lot, things were different. Soon after praying together, exchanging the Sign of Peace and receiving the Eucharist we became like little monsters – car horns beeped, cars were cut-off, looks were exchanged, and sometimes, hand gestures were shared.


25th Sunday (Note & Bulletin)

While I was in the Philippines, part of the Jesuit program was to be sent out into the remote Mountain Province to assist with the Novena before Christmas. All of the churches we were to be sent to also served even more remote villages. A priest may visit these small chapels only a few times a year.
